Our vision
Having kids is the most human and meaningful thing we do. Yet it has become lonely, joyless, and unnecessarily hard. We love being parents, but we miss being ourselves.Salotto ends that impossible choice. The people, the culture, the life we set aside come back, and we get to share it all with our kids.

Our story
Salotto was founded by Polina Melamed and Luca Tavazzani. Partners in life and in work.
Two big careers. Two little kids. Zero grandparents on this side of the ocean.
With no village nearby, we went looking for one in the city we’d chosen to call home. Along the way, we met many families just like us: building a life with kids far from where they started, without giving up what made life good before. Beauty, simplicity, community.
We’ve spent our careers building technology, and we believe in a future where it frees us to focus on what truly matters: the time we spend with our kids.
So we’re building what we couldn’t find. A family club for the part of life you don’t want to automate. For our kids, for families like us, and for the city we love.

Coming soon to San Francisco

Does raising children have to mean leaving the city? We don’t think so. We grew up in Milan and Moscow, and we believe cities are extraordinary places for children to grow up in. Cities are where colors and sounds play together, where ideas collide, and where cultures are created. Few cities do it as well as San Francisco.Salotto won’t be a consumer of the city, but a contributor. We’re building it in collaboration with San Francisco’s artists, makers, and chefs, to be deeply embedded in its cultural and civic community. So our families don’t just live in San Francisco. They belong here.

We believe childhood belongs in the city, and that the best experiences come from people who live their craft every day. We’re now bringing together our founding partners: people thinking boldly about how children grow up and how parents live.
